About Daily Holes — An Independent Daily Golf Game

Who makes Daily Holes, how each daily course is generated, how scores are verified on the server, what is stored and how to get in touch.

What Daily Holes is

Daily Holes is an independent browser golf game built around one idea: a single nine-hole course each day that everyone plays. It is inspired by the original Daily Holes and is not affiliated with dailyholes.com. The artwork and the game engine are original to this project.

How a course is built

Nothing is drawn by hand. The UTC date and the engine version are turned into a seed, and a deterministic generator lays out the nine holes from it: the order of the special holes, the routing, bunkers, water, wind, green size and slope. The same date always produces the same course, in every browser.

Why physics changes are versioned

Because yesterday’s scores must stay comparable, the physics are versioned. When the rules of flight or rollout change, new days use the new engine, and completed rounds keep the result they were played under. Unfinished old rounds are restarted on the current version, with their original progress kept as a backup.

How scores are verified

A ranked round never accepts a score from the browser. Each shot — club, line and power — is sent to the server, which replays it through its own copy of the physics, and each round is protected against conflicting updates. Only the first completed daily round per account counts. Server replay checks consistency; it cannot rule out every form of automated play.

What is stored

Signing in uses Google only, with the basic profile and email scopes. Ranked rounds, shot records, your chosen public nickname, friends and groups are stored on the server. Guest progress stays in your browser and is checked before it is resumed; if browser storage is unavailable, the game is still playable. Details are in the privacy policy.
