Golf Hazards in Daily Holes — Every Obstacle Explained
Every daily course is built from the UTC date, so the hazards land in a new order each day — but everyone playing that day meets the same ones in the same places.
The mix itself never changes. Each nine has two island greens, two river holes, two links holes with a cart path, one water crossing, one portal and one sweeping arm. A gust blows across holes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, bunkers guard every hole except the crossing, and the putting rings score every green.
Water · par 3 · twice a round
Island green
A short hole with a green ringed by water. There is no bailout: carry the water and stop the ball, or drop and try again.
Water · par 4 and 5 · twice a round
River and bridge
A river runs diagonally across the fairway, with a narrow bridge down the middle. The angle means every line has a different carry.
Water · par 5 · once a round
The crossing
A par 5 played over open water from island to island. Each landing must find dry ground; a miss sends you back to the island you hit from.
Shortcut · once a round
Portal
A small pad beside the fairway. Stop your ball on it and it reappears close to the green — but only if it comes to rest there.
Moving obstacle · once a round
Sweeping arm
A circle a little past halfway up the hole. A ball that stops inside it is swept sideways, often into rough or a bunker.
Surface · four holes a round
Cart path
A narrow path running up the side of links and river holes toward the green. Land on it and the ball runs along the path, about twice as far as fairway.
Wind band · holes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Gust
A band of strong crosswind halfway up odd-numbered holes. It pushes shots sideways, but a long, high flight crosses it almost untouched.
Lies · every hole
Bunkers and rough
Two bunkers guard each hole and two depths of rough line the fairway. Each lie cuts carry, widens the spread and kills rollout.
Scoring · every green
Putting rings
There is no putter. Where your ball stops on the green decides the putts: gold ring one, pale ring two, the rest of the green three.
